THE countdown is on to this year’s Saintfield Horse Show.
Organisers are currently putting the final touches to the event which takes place on August 17 at Tyrella House.
This year’s show was formally launched at a special event at Rowallane Garden hosted by the National Trust and attended by show sponsors and organisers.
Guests and sponsors were welcomed by show director Joan Cunningham who is delighted that Down Council is supporting this year’s event.
There will be the usual full range of showjumping classes for horses and ponies with the course designed by top Irish International course designer, Raymond Jess.
In addition, there will be Working Hunter classes for horses and ponies with these courses designed and sponsored by David McClurg.
The August show will also include showing classes for horses and ponies, lead rein, family ponies, ridden hunters, cob classes, small hunter, happy hackers, miniature horses, Shetland ponies and donkeys.
The Show will also feature the Ulster Tatler Ladies Side Saddle Championship and the Bank of Ireland Ladies Equine Handlers Class incorporating the best/most appropriately dresses lady handlers.
The Tyrella House event also includes the very popular Downpatrick Racecourse race horse to riding horse event and there will be a pet dog show.
The donkey derby and celebrity donkey chase promise to be hilarious, with winners receiving £1,000 to donate to their chosen charity.
Elsewhere, there will be lots of fun and activities for children including a bouncy castles, quads, slides and pony rides.
