Corraigh to compete in Miss Bikini Ireland competition

22 December 2020

THE boredom of lockdown spurred Drumaness woman Corraigh Rossborough to enter the Miss Bikini Ireland competition.

The 28 year-old, who is studying to become a chartered accountant, is now representing Co Down in the all-island final, with the winner to be announced on January 31.

The former camogie player hopes that with the support of voters she can claim the title and the chance for an all expenses-paid trip to Mexico to compete in the world finals of Swimsuit USA International.

If she does, it won’t be the first crown Corraigh has claimed in her life.

She once won a local bonny baby competition and was named Miss Drumaness at the village’s annual festival in 1997.

Miss Bikini Ireland is the first pageant that Corraigh has entered and she applied when she found

herself at a loss during the first lockdown.

“I had been studying all through lockdown and then I noticed the competition being promoted. I thought I would enter it just to keep my spirits high,” she said.

“I was so focused on becoming a chartered accountant that I wasn’t really having fun so I thought it would keep me busy and keep my spirits up as everyone is going through so much this year.

“I thought it would be good for me and it fitted perfectly as I love going to the gym and work out about five days a week.”

Corriagh explained that Miss Bikini Ireland appealed to her as it focuses on beauty combined with fitness.

“The competition is a pageant of sorts in that there will be a catwalk on the stage at the final and we will be asked questions by the compère,” she said.

“There is an emphasis on fitness and you need to be in good shape but they welcomed entries from girls from all walks of life and you but you don’t need to have a six-pack but just need to be comfortable in your own skin.”

Corriagh said that the coronavirus pandemic had impacted on the normal running of the competition and everything was done online as much as possible.

She said: “Obviously all of the competitors couldn’t meet up for a workshop as normal but we managed to get our professional photographs taken and we were supplied with free gift products.

A profile on Corraigh and other competitors will be uploaded soon on www.missbikiniireland.ie where you can keep up to date with her progress.
