Ballynahinch branch launches poppy appeal

Ballynahinch branch launches poppy appeal

23 October 2019

THIS year’s annual Remembrance Service and parade in Ballynahinch will take place on November 10.

Organisers have asked that all bands, youth organisations, groups and individuals taking part in the parade to meet at the Windmill Street car park at 2.15pm.

The parade to the War Memorial is due to set off at 2.30pm, with the wreath laying ceremony starting at 2.45pm.

Following the service, the parade will make its way to Magheradroll Church of Ireland for this year’s church service.

There will then be a return parade to the War Memorial following the church service.

Ahead of the annual parade, the Ballynahinch branch has launched its annual poppy appeal.

Legion officials say that they are delighted that they will be joined by members of the Ballynahinch branch of the army and RAF cadets.

They will be helping with street collections on November 2 and 9. Poppies will also be available in local shops, restaurants and pubs from this week.

Legion officials say anyone interested in helping with door-to-door or street collections is asked to make contact via the organisation’s Facebook page or speak with a branch member.

Those taking part in the annual parade on November 10 are reminded that the collection date for wreaths is November 7 from the hall between 7pm and 7.30pm.

Wreaths and crosses can also be collected from the hall on the morning before the parade between 10am and 10.30am.
