All ages come together for tea dance in Killyleagh

13 November 2019

YOUNG and old came together as the Killyleagh Community Association held its first old time tea dance recently.

The youngest there was just five months old, and the oldest was quite a few years older as more than 60 locals enjoyed the fun, refreshments and entertainment in Killyleagh Yacht Club.

The tea dance was laid on by the community association as part of its campaign to boost community spirit in the town.

Catering was provided by Mark Spence, of Dial a Chef, and the fantastic entertainment came from The Swing Gals five-piece song and dance group.

Each table was adorned by a selection of cake stands kindly loaned by St John The Evangelist Church, Killyleagh, which added to the atmosphere of the period tea dance perfectly.

The community association in its present form has been operational for three years now and has organised a very successful summer festival each August, along with Halloween and Christmas street festivals.

It is also involved in organising improvements around the town and surrounding area in association with statutory bodies and other local groups.
