Spa juniors out for the captains

24 August 2016

TODD Craig and Alex Murphy were the stars of the day when Spa Golf Club hosted its first joint Juvenile Captains’ Day competition last week.

The well attended event supervised by junior convenors Robert Gartley and Gwyneth Cordner along with volunteers Joy Millington and Julian Kelly was hailed a major success by senior club officials.

Both junior captains, Victoria Cordner and Daniel Millington, praised the organisation of the competition while club captain Harry Walsh said the juveniles were the future of Spa Golf Club and he hoped they would all continue to  play and take an interest in the game.

He thanked the convenors and volunteers as well as resident professional Gary Wardlow and assistant professional Matthew Weir for their dedicated commitment in coaching and encouraging the young  golfers.

The captain congratulated all the winners and said he was impressed by the excellent scores returned particularly by Todd and Alex, who won their respective 18-hole competitions.
