Quinn visits Pegasus

Quinn visits Pegasus

31 October 2012

MOURNE boxer Paul Quinn recently won his first professional contest in the Ulster Hall against teak-tough Hungarian Ignac Kassai.

This was a baptism of fire for Quinn as Kassai had 35 contests under his belt, but Paul’s stylish, pinpoint accuracy and great timing ensured he won every round.

Paul is the son of former Downpatrick man, Paddy Quinn, who boxed for Russell Youth Club in the county town and he has spent a lot of time at Pegasus ABC, sparring during his amateur days.

He recently visited the Pegasus clubrooms to say a big thank you for the great support he has received from the Downpatrick club and Downpatrick people in general, especially members of the Quinn family who cheered every punch Paul threw against Kassai.

Paul said the support he received was brilliant and spurred him on to a great win. Paul also paid tribute to his local club All Blacks, who ran two buses and a fleet of cars to Belfast for the big fight.

Paul’s next fight is on the undercard of the Tyson Fury bill at the Belfast Odyssey on December 1.
