CASTLEWELLAN girl, Amy McCrickard, has won the under 13 Ulster Irish Dance title for 2017.

Amy is a member of the McCartney School of Dance and her teacher, Kimberley McCartney said she is very proud of Amy’s achievement and of all the 34 dancers from the school who qualified to take part in the event in Belfast.

This year’s Championships saw the school bring home even more medals and podium top spots. Cara Murphy, under nine, and Orla Phillips, under 17, gained second place in their Championships and three team titles were won, some for the fourth year running.

“The dedication, focus and enthusiasm the pupils show towards their dancing all year round is outstanding and I would like to thank them and their families for all their commitment and hard work, they are a credit to the McCartney School of Dance,” said Kimberley.
