Buildings in line for prestigious design awards

TWO Downpatrick building projects are hoping to taste success in this year’s Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors Northern Ireland Awards.

The Downshire Civic Centre and Cedar Court are hoping to emerge triumphant when the various winners are announced early next month.

The Downshire complex, which is home to Down Council and the Housing Executive’s district office, has been shortlisted in the building conservation category.

Cedar Court, which provides supported housing accommodation, is shortlisted in the regeneration category.

Both Downpatrick buildings feature in a list of 30 scheme which have been shortlisted for prestigious Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RCIS) awards. Other major projects in the running include Crumlin Road Gaol, the restoration of SS Nomadic and the Guildhall in Derry.
