SEAFORDE swimmer Bethany Firth has her sights set on Paralympic gold once again.

The London 2012 Paralympics gold medallist has qualified to compete at this year’s games in Rio de Janiero.

The 20 year-old achieved qualification times for the 100m breaststroke and 100m backstroke at the British trials which are taking place in Glasgow.

Bethany secured her place on the plane with a time of 1:13.99 in the breaststroke final on Saturday.

She followed that up on Sunday when she also qualified for the backstroke event with a time of 1:05.45 in the heats.

It was in the100m backstroke that Bethany won gold at London 2012.

Bethany, who represented Ireland at the 2012 Games before her decision to switch allegiance to Great Britain in 2013, was back in action again yesterday in the 200m freestyle. She completes her programme today in the 200m individual medley.

Last year she had to pull out of the British team for the IPC World Championships because of a broken wrist.

It’s a busy time for Bethany right now. After the British trials she will be heading to Madeira for the European Championships which begin on Saturday.
