Ardglass man facing trial in murder case

10 April 2019

AN Ardglass man charged with the murder of a Romanian fisherman is to stand trial in the autumn.

Jason Carr (21), of Crew Hill Court, will appear at Downpatrick Crown Court on October 7 accused of murdering Stefan Zait, who also lived in the village, on May 24 last year.

He is one of three people from Ardglass who will stand trial in connection with the murder.

Carr’s father, David Brian Carr, (50) of Kildare Court, is charged with threatening Mr Zait on May 22 last year.

A third defendant, Nicola Goulding (35), of St Joseph’s Close, is charged with perverting the course of justice by making a false statement to police on June 1 last year that Mr Zait produced a knife during a confrontation with Jason Carr.

All three denied the charges when they were arraigned at Belfast Crown Court last Thursday.

They were released on continuing bail ahead of their trial.
